Wemyss Bay Community Association Annual General Meeting - Sunday 21st February 2010
Tuesday, February 09, 2010.
Posted by Wemyss Bay Community Association (webmaster@wemyssbay.net).
Sunday 21st February 2010 at 7pm Wemyss Bay Community Centre Wemyss Bay Community Assocation would like to invite all residents of Wemyss Bay to our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday 21st February at 7pm in the Community Centre.
At the meeting a number of positions on the Committee require to be filled and we would like to see new people come join us. If you can spare a couple of hours each month then great, if you can't commit to that but want to volunteer for a specific item, such as the Gala Weekend, then that's fine too. We really would like to see you come along.
Without an active Committee the Community Association will cease to exist and responsibility for management, bookings and fees for use of the Community Centre would return to Inverclyde Council, and we all know how tight the Council's budgets are! If this happens then there would be a direct impact on the availability and opening hours of the Community Centre. Many groups would be affected by this, such as, the Brownies, Ardgowan Footbal Development, etc. not to mention the Annual Gala Weekend, the Christmas Night and all bouncy castle, disco and birthday parties. Through the efforts of the Community Association, 2009 saw us host a successful Homecoming themed Gala Weekend, the opening of the all-weather floodlit pitch saw the Community gain a 300,000 pound investment thanks to the Community Facilities Steering Group and the Christmas Lights Switch-On was one of the most successful to date. This is in addition to all the daily and weekend groups and events.
2010 is the Community Centre's 21st Birthday and there are a number of ideas and plans to celebrate this throughout the year. We'd love to have more ideas and volunteers to ensure that the Centre celebrates it's birthday in style and continues to be a benefit to our Community for another 21 years.
If you are interested in getting involved, or you would like to know more about what is involved, please contact our Chairperson Kirsty Donnelly on 01475 520738.
Thanks and Regards. Hope to see you there.
